Kayak for a Cause on Walloon Lake is made possible by the efforts of many volunteers. Among those are Mark and Laurie McMurray who provide the Saturday night spread for the kayakers at the end of the day. Joyce Riordan, who has spearheaded the effort for Kayak for a Cause on Walloon Lake, shows off one of flags from 2012 and here is one of our friends from around the lake passing out goodies to passing kayakers.
MAKE A PLEDGE TO A KAYAKER
We encourage kayakers to collect pledges from family, friends, and co-workers of $10 per mile or $300 (two day tour) or $150 (one day only) in pledges. New this year, kayakers can dedicate their pledge/fees to a specific school district or school of their choice. Pledging to a kayaker can easily be done online.

Purchase a Flag
Order your custom designed 2013 Kayak for a Cause on Walloon Lake flag for $50.00 and receive the schedule of when and where the team will be on the lake during the two day paddle. As the team passes by your lake front home, you and your family can kayak with the team or simply cheer the team on from your dock or boat.

Order your flag now! They are becoming a collector's item. The colors for 2013 are yellow and purple. Each flag costs $50.00; two flags would be $100.00.

There is no other kayaking event like this in Northern Michigan, and it is catching on like wildfire. In 2009, Karen Marietti, Director of the Camp Daggett Adventure Center, made her way around the lake alone; the following year 9 kayakers joined her; and in 2010, her team grew to 18 kayakers. It has continued to grow each year.
There are four levels of sponsorship listed below.
